Hm. Like?

So after a 5-month hiatus from all things art related, I picked up the pencil and sketched out a horse late last month.

I’m still not sure whether I like it. Comments? Critiques? I’d love to hear them!

Glasses or Contacts?

•April 16, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I’m going to the eye doctor tomorrow morning, and while i’m there i’ll have the chance to finally get contacts. I’ve had glasses since 1st grade. I hate them. They’re so thick they make my eyes look teeny tiny and I love the thought of finally ditching them.

However, the idea of having something in my eye fr.eaks me out. I tried contacts in 6th grade. Couldn’t get them close to my eye. Same with 7th grade. Last year I could touch my eye but not get the contact IN. I’m much better about having things near my eye (thank you, make up) but I still don’t know whether I’ll be able to put them in.

No problem, right? I try, and if I can’t get them in then it’s no big deal. Wrong. My mom says that I can either get new glasses OR I can get contacts, we can’t do both. I HATE my glasses right now, and if I choose contacts and can’t wear them then I’m stuck with these frames for another year.

SO…I can either get contacts and risk being stuck with my old glasses for another year, or I can get new frames that I like but still be stuck behind really thick glasses.

Here I am WITH the glasses:

Ahh…the teenage money woes.

This happens time and time again. I splurge and buy some expensive item with all the money i have saved up, and then I discover that I really need several things.
Most recently, I bought a saddle. A beautiful Circuit Close Contact saddle. Retailing for $800-$1095, I got mine barely used for $400. Unfortunately, I forgot all that comes with a saddle. I already had irons (my lovely jointed ones that I will never ever part with), but leathers were going to be an issue. I have a pair – well, not really a pair; one is 3″ longer then the other and they’re different colors – of leathers now thanks to the generosity of my dear mother. I do not, however, have a saddle cover. I am strangely protective of this saddle, and it kills me to have to carry it around all…exposed! Also, the seat is calfskin and I do NOT want to mess it up with my jeans. Therefore, I also need a pair of breeches. And what does that mean? You got it. Money. Money that I, a fourteen year old girl, don’t have.
I’ve brainstormed ways to make money – from dog training, sitting, and walking to attempting to sell my mediocre drawings. Nothing.
And so I sit, dreaming of the day my saddle will have a cover. Pathetic? I think so.

Well Hello There (:

Hello, blog readers!

This is my first official entry.  Basically, I love to write. I actually hate to literally write, like pen on paper, which is why this has been started. All of the writing, none of the hand cramps.

Well that’s embarrassing.

I have so. Much. Stuff.

Let’s see.I have…2 bridles, 2 bits, 1 girth, 2 pairs of leathers, 2 pairs of chaps, 2 pairs of boots, 2 breeches, 12 brushes, 2 saddle pads, 2 saddles, 2 helmets, 3 pairs of gloves, 10 pairs of helmet liners, 2 gallons of horse treats, 1 pair of irons, and 1 crop.

And I don’t even have my own horse!

IDEA! If I sold some of this stuff, the ones I don’t use, I could probably fund my saddle cover. And breeches. And MAYBE another pad. Ohhhhhh yess…
